Privacy policy.

Priodemy ("we", "us", or "our") operates the PDFrio website (pdfrio.priodemy.com) and the PDFrio Android app. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and how we protect your information.

1. Web tools (this website)

All PDF processing on this website happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We never see your files.

• No file uploads. Your PDFs are loaded into your browser's memory and processed locally. They are never transmitted over the network.
• No accounts required. You can use every web tool without signing up.
• No tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or other tracking on the website.
• Verifiable. You can disconnect from the internet after loading the page; the tools still work.

The only third-party network calls happen lazily, and only if you opt into specific features in the PDF Editor:

• OCR engine — If you choose to run OCR on a scanned PDF, Tesseract.js and its language model are fetched from jsDelivr (a public open-source CDN). Your PDF still stays in your browser; only the OCR library is downloaded.
• Extended Unicode font — If you save text annotations containing characters outside the Latin range (e.g., Chinese, Arabic, Devanagari), Noto Sans is fetched from jsDelivr so those characters render correctly in the saved PDF.

Both are open-source assets served by a third-party CDN; the CDN provider can see that your browser requested the file (a standard HTTP request) but not the contents of your PDF.

2. Android app

The PDFrio Android app collects the following data when you choose to use specific features:

a) Account information (optional)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account. This is used solely for authentication, displaying your profile, and managing your premium subscription. You can use the app without signing in.

b) Crash & performance data

We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous crash reports and app usage data. This helps us fix bugs and improve stability. This data does not contain personal information about you or your files.

c) Advertising

The free tier of the Android app shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a device advertising ID to serve more relevant ads. You can reset or opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google settings.

d) AI features

When you use the AI summarize or Q&A features in the Android app, your selected PDF text content is sent to a third-party AI API (Groq) for processing. The AI provider does not retain or train on this data. We do not store these queries or responses on our servers.

3. Browser extension (PDFrio for Chrome)

The PDFrio browser extension replaces Chrome's built-in PDF viewer with PDFrio's reader and bundles the same web tools locally. It runs entirely on your device — there is no remote server, no account, and no analytics.

• PDF rendering is local. The extension fetches the PDF you asked your browser to open (e.g., a .pdf URL you navigated to or a downloaded file you opened) and renders it in your browser using bundled JavaScript libraries. The contents of the PDF never leave your device.
• Annotations and reading-mode preferences are stored in chrome.storage.local — a sandboxed area of your browser's local storage, scoped to the extension. Nothing syncs to any server. Uninstalling the extension removes this data.
• No tracking, no analytics, no remote code. The extension does not load any script from a remote source. Every library it uses is bundled inside the extension package and reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
• Permissions explained. The extension requests access to all URLs so it can detect .pdf files on any website you visit and open them in its enhanced viewer. It does not read, transmit, or analyze any other page content.
• Optional clicks to the website. Buttons that say "Open in PDFrio" open pdfrio.priodemy.com in a new tab. No PDF data is transmitted as part of that click — you would re-open the file on the website if you wanted to use AI features there.

4. What we never collect

• Your PDF files — Web, extension, and Android app all process files locally on your device.
• Camera data — The document scanner runs locally on-device.
• Biometric data — We don't request fingerprint or face data.
• Contacts, location, calendar, or messages.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Google (Firebase) — Authentication, crash reporting, analytics (Android app only)
• Google (AdMob) — Advertising (Android app free tier only)
• Groq — AI text processing (only when you use AI features)

6. Data security

All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. The Android app enforces a strict network security configuration that blocks cleartext HTTP traffic. We do not store user files on our own servers.

7. Data retention & deletion

If you have an account (Android app), you can request deletion at any time via our account deletion page. We process deletion requests within 30 days. The website and the browser extension do not require accounts, so there is no account data to delete. Uninstalling the browser extension clears any annotations stored locally on your device.

8. Children's privacy

PDFrio is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Third-party services

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
