What is PDFrio? +

PDFrio is a privacy-first PDF toolkit available as an Android app on Google Play and as eight free web tools at pdfrio.priodemy.com. It supports reading, editing existing text, merging, splitting, compressing, signing, OCR (text recognition in 100+ languages), and conversion between PDFs, Word documents, and images. All file processing happens locally on the user's device — files are never uploaded to a server. PDFrio is built by Priodemy.

How is PDFrio different from other online PDF tools? +

Most popular online PDF tools upload your files to their servers and process them there. PDFrio runs everything in your browser or directly on your phone. Your files never travel anywhere. We also have no daily usage limits, no file size caps, and zero ads on web tools.

Is the Android app actually free? +

Yes. The free version includes every feature — reader, editor, scanner, AI, merge, split, compress, OCR, conversion, eSign. The only difference between free and premium is that premium removes the AdMob banner and interstitial ads. Premium does not unlock any features. Everything is available to everyone.

What does the AI feature use? +

The AI uses Groq's API for summarization and Q&A — only when you actively use the AI button. Selected text is sent for processing and discarded. The AI provider doesn't retain or train on this data. The PDF file itself never leaves your device.

Can I really process huge files (500 MB+) in the browser? +

Yes. Most browsers handle 1–2 GB before running out of memory. Cloud-based competitors typically cap at 10–50 MB even on paid plans because of bandwidth costs. We don't have that problem.

Why does the Android app show ads if you say "no tracking"? +

Fair point. The website uses zero tracking and zero ads — that's a hard rule. The Android app uses Google AdMob in the free tier (which is how we keep the lights on) and Firebase Analytics for crash reporting. AdMob may use a device ID to serve relevant ads. You can pay ₹119/month to remove ads, or use the website for fully ad-free PDF tools.
